Er Gu Tang Shui (二姑糖水)

“Er Gu Tang Shui” (also known as Er Gu Dessert) was founded back in 1955 by Er Gu. It started as a roadside store located in Chinatown. Back in 1955, Chinatown was popular for their night market and “Er Gu Tang Shui” was the iconic dessert store in Chinatown night market. Business was overwhelming and desserts were often sold out before the sun set. As Singapore continue to prosper, Chinatown was redeveloped.

Chinatown’s night market ended on 30 September 1983 and the stalls were relocated to Chinatown complex market. “Er Gu Tang Shui” was one of the pioneers to follow the relocation to Chinatown complex. They continue to serve the most traditional taste of dessert in Singapore with the same old recipe since 1955.

What our customers say about our desserts?

“Er Gu Tang Shui has been a very popular dessert place in the 80s. The legendary dessert lady, Er Gu, makes wonderful almond paste and black sesame paste."
- Maureen from MissTamChiak.com
"If you are at Chinatown Complex Market, do try out this dessert store. The business is brisk, and the good stuffs are mostly sold out early in the evening. My fav is the "black-sesame" paste. Smooth, and not over-powering."
- Guy-N-Food from HungryGoWhere
"We love Er Gu dessert and we been eating there for about 30 years. The taste is the same since 1980s. Not too sweet yet fragrance. A “must have” for our family after every meal in Chinatown."
- Residents in Chinatown
